Komitly ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information when you use our desktop application and website (collectively, "the Service").

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect the information provided by your authentication provider (GitHub or Google), which typically includes your name, email address, and profile picture. We do not collect or store your passwords—authentication is handled entirely by third-party OAuth providers.

2.2 Billing Information

If you subscribe to a premium plan, payment information is collected and processed directly by our payment processor. We do not store your credit card numbers or bank account details. We only receive transaction confirmations and subscription status.

2.3 License & Device Information

To validate your license, the desktop application generates a device fingerprint (a hash derived from your machine identifier and hostname). This is used solely for license activation and does not identify you personally.

2.4 Contact Information

If you contact us through the support form, we collect the email address associated with your account, along with the subject and message content, to respond to your inquiry.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

• Your source code or repository contents. Komitly operates locally on your machine. We never upload, read, or analyze your code.
• Git history or commit data. All Git operations happen locally. Repository data stays on your device.
• Usage analytics or telemetry. We do not embed analytics trackers, SDKs, or telemetry in the desktop application.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide and maintain the Service
• Authenticate your identity and manage your account
• Process payments and manage subscriptions
• Validate your software license
• Respond to support requests
• Send transactional emails (account confirmations, billing receipts)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

5. AI Features

Komitly offers optional AI-powered features (such as commit message generation) that send diff data to third-party AI providers (OpenAI or Anthropic) based on your configuration. This data is sent directly from the desktop application and is not stored by us. Your use of AI features is subject to the respective provider's privacy policy and terms of service.

6. Third-Party Services

We rely on trusted third-party service providers to operate the Service, including:

• Authentication and database hosting
• Payment processing
• Transactional email delivery
• Website hosting and content delivery

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data. We select providers that maintain industry-standard security and data protection practices.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes or enforcing our terms).

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. All data in transit is encrypted using TLS. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
